Got around to do a bit of shooting with my most recent build - and posted a CHALLENGE over on AO - for shooters to post a single five shot group with their favorite "sporter" at any distance. This little deer rifle would be at home in the "precision" category as it is a pretty consistent sub 1/2" at 100M...and with some practice, should be 1/2 MOA at 300M.

The game here is to shoot a single five shot group at any distance with an Alberta big game legal, sporter weight rifle with a muzzle diameter under 0.75". Must be shot on a target with a "game" animal or facsimile (just to eliminate the posting of "old" groups :) )

Rifle: Stiller Predator action, 24" Krieger #3 chrome-moly barrel with muzzle diameter of 0.63 chambered to 30 BR, Rem 700 bottom metal, jewell trigger...total weight of rifle with scope is 8.2 lbs. Chambering courtesy of Henry Rempel. Game bullet is Barnes 110gr TTSX at 3075 fps.

Gee whiz - the artist should be shot for that! Is that a pig or a deer...?

What have you got for glass on that sweetheart JEC?

Glen - Hey, my wife did a great job with charcoal on the original!!! It got increasingly distorted as I zoomed the copies to make them animal sized. That's art:) Scope is a Leupold VX 11 6 -18 X 40. I am changing it out to a bit more horsepower to shoot some 300M groups as I can't see the bullet holes. May as well make the wind my friend.
Jerry - No flies on any of the Kreigers, but I was surprised this skinny little thing shoots as well as it does... It is my most accurate "sporter" to date.

EDIT: OK Glen, glimpse on this drawing she's doing of the pic she took in Italy. She says the drawing is not supposed to be a picture...just an impression.... now, if I could just get her to do an "impression" of some groups :) Someday, I hope my "range art" rises to her standards. :)

Thank you for the explanation JEC, if I saw a deer that looked like that in real life, I would put it down as an act of mercy and to hell with the game warden! ;)

That second pic is much better! Are there watercolours involved with that...? If so she is doing pretty good with them...
