Looks like I'll be getting a Savage Axis XP in .223 in the bext month or so, so I'm gonna start looking for a optics for this gun now.
I'll start doing some light target shooting, then when I get my hunting papers, hitting the fields taking out 'yotes and foxies.
Now from what little information I can find on the subject, whichever scope I decide on, it should have a wide FOV. How wide? I dunno, like I said, I'm kinda new to the whole expensive optics here. Also, our local gun shop guru told me I should go with a red-dot instead of a scope for predator hunting.
Should I believe the old fart? Because when I thought about it, red-dots should be left to the CQB guys.

Bushnell makes a 2.5-16 which gives you very wide fov on low power and plenty of magnification for target work. To my mind it's the very best compromise for varmint hunting.
