If weight is a concern at all (pushing rifle as opposed to calling rifle), the leupold VXR 4-12 x 40mm is a fantastic scope and only weighs 14.6 ounces. You will not find a scope that light with more features:
30mm tube
fire dot, motion switch illumination, (I've shot more than a couple coyotes in low light that I would not have without it)
Leupold alumina flip caps, the best
decent glass
My current favorite if you have the budget is the VX6 3-18 x 44mm. Goes as low as I need and the 18X has been great for coyotes and jack rabbits around 400 yards. They have been discontinued for the HD version, you may still find a deal on one. The VX5 3-15 looks pretty fantastic also.
I shot this one last night, overcast, about the end of legal shooting, at 6 yards from my tree stand. No issues. I'd say there was more than a dozen howling around me at different locations. The bastards are demolishing my apples and have most of the deer run off. I have pics of up to 6 at a time in the daylight. Just sucks carrying the suckers over half mile back. For a deer, I get the ATV...
