I am just getting used to my Norinco M14, and have been wondering what my best options are for optics. I am trying to decide between a QD system in which i swap out a red dot for a higher power scope, or have a multiplier that i can take on and off in conjunction with my red dot. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

These rifles are hard on scopes and need a good mount , what mount do you have now .
The ARMS 18 is one of the best mounts for it and for QD rings I want to go with the ARMS 22.

i have a utg tri rail on the front thus far, im not wanting to get too much invested until i have a better idea of what direction i want to go. those arms 22 rings look great, no zero issues?

Suggestion: 1.5-6x or 2.5-10x with mil-dot.

Agreed, especially with a scout type set-up
i ran a traditional set-up, sadlak steel mount with illum mk4 2.5-8x. A great optic

For rings, I found the Vortex to be extremelly good for the price, so is their line of scope

With that UTG rail you're pretty much limited to a LER scope or a red dot unless you have the stripper clip guide as well. If you do have the stripper clip guide, be aware that a few people, myself included, have had issues with them not being in the same plane as the forward rail so you have to run something like Burris Zee rings to be able to even get your scope on the paper without maxing out the internal adjustment in your scope. A better option mght be something like the Larue LR-608 that mounts to just your forward rail and would allow the scope to sit over the receiver.

As for rings, you can't go wrong with the ARMS22, I have the med height ones on my ARMS18 and love the setup. For scopes, like others have said, a 1-4 short dot or a 3.5-10 are winning combos. I have both a Millett DMS-1 and a Leupold Mark4 LR/T 3.5-10. Both are great but the Leupi gets more love, I need a shorty for the DMS, haha.

I have two M14s setups right now. Both use ARMS mounts and Nightforce rings. One has a Nightforce 1-4, the other a Nightforce 2.5-10. I prefer the 2.5-10.

Redfield 4-12X with an ARMS 18 mount and Millet adjustable low rings.

Had to swap out the bolt internals to USGI with the ARMS 18, took 10 minutes, easy peasy :D

Tactical111 are these the ones you mentioned

Millet Angle loc rings

Yup, they're brilliant ;) Will make up for any geometry issues with the mount and the receiver. My ARMS mount naturally skewed off to the left or right a smidge, I can't remember which

Either way, it is a beautiful package and will fix any issues ;) and they've never come loose (no locktite)

Note: DON'T put the tape on that they come with, it WILL screw everything up

Also: With the Redfield scope you will have to remove the rear iron sight ( eye portion) or the scope will touch it. But with it scoped, you don't need it.

This is the nicest set up I've seen. Leupold MK4 (3.5-10x40) with LOW 30mm SEI rings. Keeps everything as low as possible. Not sure who makes the mount though...pretty sure it isn't SEI.

Very sharp.

Reciever is an LRB that comes with the intergral scope mount. The shirt and flash hidder SEI will not sell to us canucks. Although the scope rings are not a problem.
Also if there ever was an M14 to drool over this would be a great example.

Agreed.

So, you can't get that mount to fit to just any M14 type receiver? That's disappointing..I've been drooling over this pic for months now hahaha...getting closer though!

(Really? They won't send the shirt but they'll send scope rings lol that seems a bit odd...)

now just something about those looks feeble?

Quite the opposite ;)

Plus, you can't get any lower on your rig. Those pics of the LRB are the same height as the ARMS 18 with Millet low rings and a Redfield 4-12X. I'm guessing the peep sight on the LRB pic is cranked all the way down to clear the rear of the scope.

Not making ANY comparisons to an LRB receiver btw, just found it interesting after looking closely at the pictures and cleaning up my jizz ;)

Brownells will sell you the rings but SEI is the only place to get these shirts and he won't ship to Canada no more but hopefully soon with this new cross border treaty that this might be an issue of the past.
