Took 6 types of 22LR ammo to the range today, and after sighting in for an hour, I did 5 shot groups of each ammo I had taken. None of them had any issues throughout the day, other than one FTE from the CCI standard velocity - however, that might have been user error.
Here are my results for today at the 25 yard range, with an EOTech 512 sight. Take these with a grain of salt, as I need a scope to do a better grouping job, AND better targets lol - but I figured I'd post today's results anyways;
Setup:
Ammo roundup:
Results @ 25 yards: (red circles are 1" in diameter)
Overall all the ammo cycled well, and the standard velocity / RWS were both quiet compared to the rest. The RWS subsonics cycle the 10/22, but its at the limits of cycling the action. I can hear the action being sluggish with the RWS, but with none of the other ammo.
I was waiting for FTE and FTF and all that noise with the super X, as they have been getting horrible reviews here - but they seem to hold their own today. In fact they did quite well, and measured on par with the mini-mags.
The Stingers did fine, however as with two other groups, there was also a flyer in the bunch.
Minimags did well throughout the shoot, and were average compared to the others. Probably the middle of the pack performance-wise.
Velocitors had consistent worst groupings of the bunch - save the stingers with the constant flyer. However, they have the most kick/bang - I think they shoot with more authority than the stingers. I would like to see the accuracy I can achieve with this ammo once I get proper glass.
Standard Velocity - for some reason these shoot lower than all the other ammo. Even lower than the quiet RWS. These seemed to always group the best. They are a very good balance of everything including price, and I highly recommend them for the 10/22. Be aware of were they shoot in comparison with your other ammo - they shot lower with my rifle.
RWS - Almost identical performance to the standard velocity - but they have A LOT of wax on them. However, i think that ammo might not cycle every 10/22 depending on spring tolerance.
Cheers
