Hi glock gurus,

Every time I load a mag with rounds, and I push firmly on the mag base, it disengages the slide lock... Not safe!

Has anyone else has this problem? If so, how can I fix this unsafe issue.... Thanks!

Why is this unsafe? You can do this on a number of firearms like the Beretta 92fs, Sig P226, M&P and some CZ's. It's referred to as the 45 degree bump. Makes for faster reloading.

Normal. But I can never get mine to do it. Even if I really bump the mag base. Do you need a fully loaded magazine to do this?

This is something that you would expect from a Tokarev , i think your glock is ready for the recycle bin, lolll

Works great on a Ruger P89 9mm as well.

I am running Gen 4 now and I found that if you tap the mag (not inserting) hard enough, the Glock will go into battery. It is pretty common. There could be another explanation... is your thumb resting on the slide stop lever ? short version ...I had that issue when I first started out with Gen 3. My thumb would pressure down on the slide stop lever when I insert a mag.

Always remember muzzle control and finger outside the trigger guard when insert a loaded mag. The only safety on a Glock is your finger.

I am by no means a Glock Shooter, but I borrowed a buddies G17 for a Advanced Carbine course this past weekend and his was also releasing the slide release every time I loaded on the fly, it sped things up, I like it, but I did wonder why it was happening and didn't think it was right.

I have some very cheap Pro-Mags for my Beretta M9 (don't hate) and just inserting them loaded sends the slide forward. I use them for IPSC to save time on reloads, lol!

LOL at unsafe. its as unsafe as you are. If you finger is out of the trigger and its not pointed at a puppy you should be ok. I sell all my glocks that dont do this. One of my buddies took a hair off of his SSL so it always does this feature.

Totally normal with most polymer pistols my sig even does it, just requires more force. I find it convenient.

There is a possibility that the spring on the lever is worn/broke, which would allow this "bump loading" to occur. Personally, its a dumb method of loading. A mismanaged reload or had hit of the mag well with a magazine not seated could send the slide into battery before it has a chance to strip a round. The "faster" reload just cost you a TAP RACK to correct. I would inspect the slide lock lever and spring and/or stop slamming the mags so hard.
