Hello,

I am new to hunting, I normally fish. Walleye and silverbass fishing is the usual, not much pike, muskie, or trout fishing yet. I can't wait to fish salmon some day as well.

I have just purchased my first training rifle. It is a Savage 22. I took the liberty of firing it immediately after purchase, at the range of course. Hit every target Iron Sight. I have yet to purchase the scope, I probably will tomorrow.

I will be taking my Hunting course online sometime soon, and I'm training for deer and up. I can't wait to hunt my first deer and or moose. I'm overly excited, and can't wait to eat and share my hunt.

Thank you for reading.

I am an avid walleye fisherman myself. Hunting is my true passion but you’ll find me jigging or bottom bouncing the Detroit river in the spring. I’m assuming that’s where you’re catching your walleye and silver bass as well based off your user name. I often shoot at amherstburg target sports. May run into each other sometime either there or on the river. Cheers. -Joe

Hi there!

Happy to hear you're enjoying! All the best at the range and afield, go get em

Walleye and pike are my fishing passions, and I'll hunt anything that has a season if I can. For me it's all about trying to find the time to do it, and cherishing the time I do get in the field.

Practice makes perfect. YouTube videos. Make checklists of shooting tips and get your fundamentals down. It'll make the shot the least stressful part of the hunt.

Good choice on your first rifle, 22 is the best for a starter rifle! Go easy on your next purchase, your big game rifle doesn’t have to be a magnum, doesn’t have to be a sniper rifle, but it can be what ever you want at the same time! Do your home work, try as any guns as you can before you make a decision, stock design, rifle weight, length of barrel, action type, all make a difference in what we like and what make sense for the type of hunting we do! I prefer carbine type rifle in the classic blue and walnut combination, calibers in the 7x57, 30-06, 9.3x62 calibers with heavy for caliber bullets, scoped with a 4x, 6x or a low variable scopes of mid range quality! The action type ain’t that important to me, I have bolt, semi, break open combination, but I really enjoy the “simplicity “ of the single shot rifles! I mainly hunt moose, caribou and bison!
