President Trump=M-1 Garands?

Wow,
A self made billionaire, can not be tat dumb to run your country. It seems that majority of Americans think that way as well. It would have been stupid to step on the same rake third time by electing Trump's opposition.
Trumps main issue is for the many countries to pay their fair share in NATO and SEATO instead of the American taxpayers.

In Germany they charge the U.S. Military for every worn out tire they take to the dump from our military bases along with other costs while we help defend them.

Why should the American infrastructure be falling apart while we spend so much money abroad.

We can't even get our medical system to work or control illegal immigration and we turn around and elect a idiot like Trump. (and I'm a registered Republican)

Sorry for the rant, but last night I was in a forum and a few Americans were talking about moving to Canada and wondering what the rest of the world thinks of our stupidity.

I think a lot of them have been destroyed. The US transfered military stuff because of the issues in the North.
One of the conditions would be to forget about grand sales

It's the size and cost of bringing them over that's the issue. Two things IIRC are that the Koreans won't sell the lot under a certain size and they are lend-lease rifles hence can not be legally imported back into the USA. Canada can't absorb 90,000 M-1 Garands our market for them is to small.

You just might be wrong about not being able to send those Garands back to the US. They are US property that was loaned/leased to the South Koreans during the 50's. They are still the property of the US Government and I think they can be brought back and sold as surplus (the Garands and M1 Carbines - anyway. The full-auto capable M2 carbines might be a different story) through the Civilian Marksmanship Program to qualified buyers.

I'm not sure if someone could export them to Canada without running foul of ITAR.

Century Arms had all their ducks in a row for an importation, until the import permit was rewoked by the Obama Administration. Even Governor Leahy lobbied the US Governement for the ban to be annulled since Century Arms is a large employer in Vermont. Hopefully President Trump will allow the Importation to proceed when he takes office.

I haven't heard of any M2s, but I think there are also select fire M14s in storage.

My last name is Horton and Tim Horton is part of our clan that moved to Canada and stayed loyal to King George.

I'm still part of the American rebel side of the clan that thinks another Republican would have been a much better choice than Trump.

Bottom line, when Trump finds out how many TV shows are filmed in Vancouver he might Nuke Canada after he grabs all your woman by the (expletive deleted).

Yeah, Hildebeast woulda been a lot better. Not.

Unless you live in NYC or LA where the elites control everything.

You sure Korean m1s are lend lease? I don't think they are. I think they were foreign aid in the 1950's, pretty sure LL was specific to the WW2 bill of the same name.

I wasn't referring to the Lend-Lease Act of 1940(1?). I meant that those rifles and carbines were loaned or given to the SK's as military aid in the 50's and 60's. AFAIK they're still Property of the US Government, like the Danish and Greek Garands.

Is that the same korea that tumps says hes going to make them pay for the 6000 americans sitting, protecting their border against NK? Or hes pulling them out. They may beed all those grands at that point lol. I hope that doesnt spoil their relations and the rifles still get sent over

there are 28500 usa troops in south korea: 20k army, 8k air force
if they pull all that out, thats a huge frigging vacuum

Canada couldn't absorb less than 10,000 Garands from Denmark which was the reason for many to be stripped into parts kits which were then exported to the US. The cheap Danish surplus receivers which we see today are the aftermath of this parting out exercise.

Canada could absorb them easily, problem is importers see them as an easy 2k. if they were reasonably priced people would buy them. But for a gun with so many made going for over 1500$ because too many kids watched saving private ryan, are not easily sold.

The Korean Garand's cannot be imported into the USA. They were not sent to Korea under the WW2 era Lend Lease Act. BUT they were sent under the FMS program as Foreran Military Supply. BUT!! They can be imported into Canada. It is just not worth it for Century or a Canadian company because of our small market. It could be done if the price was say $100 each and the sell price was $500 Retail. Good margin. Ruko imported a bunch of Shotguns from Vietnam. The US Gov't redirected the ship to Seattle instead of Port of Vancouver and seized the entire shipment. He eventually got some released and that was where the influx of Reblued Winchester Trench guns came from.
