Prettiest sks ever - pics - dialup beware

Here you go, this is one of the kits available, and the finish is a true nickle plate and every bit as durable as plating done by a shop, same deal.

Thanks for the link. It looks really interesting. I think I'll have to give that a try at some point. Maybe I'll practice on the sks and if it turns out well I'll refinish my 1911. It probably won't be anytime soon though. More of a future project.

TOTAL GUN ####.

As a new owner it really amazes me at how adaptable and creative owners of the SKS can be.

It's nice to have a gun one can work on ones self.

GREAT JOB!.

Now, I saw a great BLACK stained wood at my a local pub...hmmmmmmmm

Ain't it odd how a thread can lay dormant for months and then srping back into being (kinda like Chuck Norris)

I can't help but wonder what that thing looks like after three months...

Had a chance to work on the next one? :D

And why isn't this one nickel plated yet? :p

The next gun is ready to paint, but I just haven't had time. Too many other projects got in the way. Hopefully in a month I'll get a chance to finish it. I'll be sure to post pics when it's done.
Nickel plating hasn't even made it on to the official "to do" list yet, so that could be a while, haha.

In addition to big Mike's question: If it does not shoot better than 4 inches with a scope you should glass bed it. You can get it down to 2" groups.

haha, wow. Just picked up an SKS last week and I wouldnt have thought about doing this! (Id only do it to a Chinese one.. not my Yugo! haha) You make me want to find a bubba'd rifle to send to you.. going to have to keep my eye's peel'd for a good deal! hahaha.

Nice work. real slick.

It actually shoots quite well. I haven't grouped it on paper ever though. I normally just shoot it for fun. Where I normally shoot it has a lot of old computers, stolen cars, and random garbage to shoot at. It punches holes in it all quite nicely. I actually did glass bed the stock a bit. I pretty much removed any movement between the action and stock. The action is locked in there pretty tight. It's a great shooter and it still looks great. I still laugh because I think of it as a weatherby sks.

Today I actually finally painted the base coat candy on a ruger stock that's been in the works for the last year. It looks awesome. I'll post the pics when it's totally finished (clear coated and polished).
