I refinished the stock on my sks. I've very, very pleased with the way it turned out. I know some think a military type rifle shouldn't really have a high gloss finish, but it's just an sks so what the heck. I didn't spend a lot of time fixing the dents and scratches so there are a few little flaws in the wood. It's pretty minor though. The paint went on really nice and is basically flawless.
I used top quality house of kolor urethane paint. This is the paint used on all the expensive hot rods and motorcycles. It is as good as paint gets but it is very expensive. The colour is rootbeer candy with clear on top. The candy paint is real nice because it gives it a really deep colour but the wood grain still comes through. With the clear it is a really deep gloss that looks awesome in the sun. This stock was done in rootbeer for the natural wood look.
