A buddy of mine emailed me these pics and the story. I'm not too sure if the story is true, but it's a very nice rack.

Shot on the north rim in the Kaibab. This guy will be famous now but
he was too lazy to even find the thing.

This is a friend of a friend. After he shot this deer, 200 yards from
the truck because he is too fat to walk, he stopped looking for it
because it was too much effort. He proceeded to go home and only
after telling my buddy how big the deer was, they went back and looked
again. After a short time they found the buck and now he is a hero.
Can you detect a small amount of jealousy in my script We will see
what kind of BS story Monster Muleys writes up, since he drove the
buck up to their headquarters after checking it in to the game and
fish. Turns out the last three holders of the governors tag all tried
to find and kill this buck. That is close to $400,000 spent to shoot
this buck that the Pillsbury boy whacked from his truck.

240' total measurement with 42' outside spread

If the story about the fellow not bothering to find the deer is true then he shouldn't be made a hero. But as to the info that $400,000 was spent by others to get the buck is meaningless. A fellow with a $20 tag and an empty wallet has every right to shoot this deer as someone with thousands to spend. Big deer are not only for rich SOB's who think their money entitles them to deer.

Unless of course this is a farm deer then you can buy whatever you wish and go shoot it in its cage. ( Please don't call it hunting though )

Betcha it was shot with a 325 Remchester Beltless Uber Magnum, with a 130gr Super Bonded Ultra Fused Plutonium Tipped Crazy Expander, made by Barnslerdy Bullets,at 4200fps. The reason he couldn't find the deer was because the bullet impact blew the buck 50yds from where it was standing, and spun Cletus clean 180 degrees so fast he didn't know it, and he searched in the wrong direction. Oh and his Swarv & Bender 1.5-16x63 scope's 8 inches of eye relief made it all possible, as well as his Real Mossy coated Chevord pickup with Scentlock, getting him as close to the deer as he did. Oh and don't forget his Pochin brand window mounted rifle rest.

(Damn that is a big deer)

Also, if the story is true this fellow should be charged. I don't know the laws where he shot this thing but where I'm from you have to make every reasonable effort to retrieve an animal. You can be charged for intentionally leaving ( Wasting) an animal. IMO if his friend had not insisted they go back that buck would of rotted and fed the coyotes. To me he should be charged.

If you are too lazy to look for a hit animal and be able to walk and look for it for a good long time then sell your guns and take up ice fishing. At least you can sit on your arse all day.

This is no way intended to demean those of us who my carry a few extra pounds. I know a lot of portly fellows who could walk the but off most of these road warriors.

Fancy that...we seem to have the same characters contributing to the magazines in both of our countries.

Oh, and yes.......what is a Governors tag ?

I think a govenors tag is one they auction off to the highest bidder although I can't see them doing it for deer. It's ussually some kind of sheep draw.I may be wrong.

All he'd have to say at this point is he went back to town to get help, he definitely needed it. I have to go now my wife is hovering!!!(she typed that last bit:))

The Kaibab is Jack O`Connor`s old stomping grounds, and is well known for it`s monster mule deer. In Arizona they do have Governor`s tags for Mule Deer going to the highest bidder. They allow you to ignore wildlife management unit restrictions and give you extended seasons. Kind of like having a treaty card, except you pay about 6 digits for it and you can only use it once.
