Pretty unimpressed with my vtr

I don't buy Rugers, because you are paying $200 for the name. It costed them $10 to make the pos everyone seems to stand behind because they don't want anyone to think they got juped.

as goes for everything else in the consumer world. The 10/22 similar to the 1911 is a proven design. The gun by gun qc may vary but the fact dozens of companies make aftermarket parts and some (tac solutions, volquartsen) make 10/22 rifles is a clear indication their design is worthy.

Sucks that you had that much problems out of the box. It is unfortunate that Remington QC has seemed to drop in the past 10 years or so. That being said, I own both a VTR and an 870 TAC. My 870 is a great shotgun, absolutely no issues. My VTR has had very few glitches but I can't say that it has worked flawlessly. All in all, it does sound like you got a lemon.

I have had no issues other than the typical over fed cheap a$$ mag problem. To fix teh mag, just scrape away some material before the rib, to ensure that it slides up far enough to engage the catch. Also had the wobble stock, but no thread damage, just the butt itself is loose fitting(I can interchange my magpulctr and it is better). Weight is also slightly on the heavy side, towards the front. But the accuracy compared to my stock 10/22 compact in tapco dress is far superior, because of the heavier barrel.

I have never owned a Remington product and never intend to. Even their ammo is junk.

Join the club.

It is a proven design after you spend 400 bucks to make the gun a good shooter.

Sorry but a lot of us do not see the value of buying a Ruger 10/22.

bring back the NYLON 66

What was their reason for discounting the Nylon 66 anyway?

Oh my God, I just thought about this.

Remington bought out Marlin  I hope they don`t F@<k up the Lever designs!! Especially the 39A

i assume you mean discontinuing, not discounting - we got ours at k-mart and that's about as discounted as you can get- fact is, it was the fudds that killed it- it wasn't made from walnut and steel, so it was a abhorrance on the shooting world- never mind the fact that it was selected as a gallery gun, never failed to feed, and was almost maintaince free- and was possibly the most advanced 22 at the time- all that doesn't matter- even the brazilian clones were almost as good as the real thing- but there are detractors for the 660 as well- just now the world is waking up to synthetic stocks, which remington had back in 59

I considered buying this gun; I had a lot to choose from on the used gun rack at the gunstore......

That being said it seems replacing the hammer and extractor with Volksquarten (sp?)parts seems to be the trick to making them shine, from what I have read on here.

Yes I mean discontinuing, I didnt catch that error until later.

Shame that the gun had such a fate considering it sold very well.

Ruger 10/22. The Bench Mark other tin can shooters are compared to. Yes you heard it right thats what they do mostly plink. And you know what. No one did it better than Sturm ,Ruger and company. If 200 bucks is for the name only, ill pay the extra 59 bucks anyday for just the rifle . You can keep the name. ;)

What are you plinking tin cans with?
