Price Check - 4.5" S&W Model 422

I think that the 422 is aluminum frame, blued steel. The 622 is the aluminum frame with SS slide and the 2206 is all steel construction. The difference between the target and field model is field has fixed sites and black plastic grips and the target model has adjustable sites with narrower front site and walnut grips.

That's right Sarge. The slide on a 422 is only the upper rear half of what we consider a normal slide. It's blued steel and the rest is all aluminium anodized to match the color. The steel slide is treated so that the surface texture causes the bluing to be a darn good match to the anodizing and vise versa.

Apparently 2206 has a SS frame while the 622 has an alloy frame. Should that fact command a significantly higher price over a 622?

well you dont see them for sale much....

I usually see 2206's go for $500 (not often up for sale, maybe 2 a year on average I see here on the EE)
