I have an opportunity to buy a collection of milsurps.
I may be wrong on a few models as I know very little about them and my buddy seemed unsure of a few. Can you guys give me a rough idea what these are worth???
I will be able to get some pics down the road.

1. VG 1870 Vetterli (I think) Antique status, or I would check registration, kinda look like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Repetierstutzer_Vetterli_1871.jpg

2. Very rough Carcano, stock painted black and a bubba repair

3. Swiss Steyr (all the info I have)

4. 7184 k8 Mauser (43) in excellent condition, may or may not have been refinished, has a worn almost parkerized look to it.

5. Polish Mosin Nagant, un-issued in like new condition

6. 1936 8mm MAS in "only dropped once" condition (ok it shows some age but looks very good almost no handling marks)

I hope to purchase these and make a small return on them on here, so if y'all could give me some ball parks I can make an offer on the collection.

NEED to know what Number 1 actually is, too.

SWISS Vetterli dated from 1869 originally, ITALIAN from 1870 and they were very different: Swiss rimfire, Italian centrefire, Swiss tube-mag repeater, Italian a single-shot then converted to box magazine in 1887, Swiss had the big heavy receiver and 2-piece wood, Italian had a single-piece stock and smaller, much lighter receiver.... little things like that. Oh, they were both .41-calibre. Italians converted a bunch to 6.5x52 in 1915, too.

As to the "Swiss Steyr", we need pics there, too, as lots of people assume that the Swiss STRAIGHT-PULL rifle was a Steyr product, which it was not. This is further complicated by the fact that Switzerland DID buy some Steyr straight-pulls. Only photos or detailed technical descriptions will settle this one, as the one above.

Yes, that "Swiss Steyr" piques MY interest, too.

If it actually IS one of the Swiss-purchased Steyr straight-pull carbines in 7.5x55 (nominal) then I know for sure I can't afford it, but I'd sure like to see a picture or six of one. Teeth in a chicken-ranch are COMMON compared to these.

That action looks too short to have the old-style prop-lock. Am I correct in assuming that this is a prototype, more or less, for the M.95 rotary-bolt action?

Ok, I got some pics, some are bubba'ed more than I thought, some are nice pieces, please help me out guys so I can ask a fair amount and recoup my costs. Not looking god for a small profit now though!

That's about where I was thinking, I way over paid for the Mauser but luckily, I made up for it with the Vetterli.

Look for a for sale post soon!
 
Friend, you might have overpaid in DOLLARS for that old Mauser, but it is very close to impossible to find something with which you can have more FUN. These things are a joy to shoot, big BOOM!, big clouds of blue-white smoke. Barrel has been chopped, as have mag and stock, but still a wonderful example of 19th Century German craftsmanship.

Your first vetterli pic was a Stutzen (double set triggers) not the same as what you have.

Now the result of an IDIOTIC gun law, if you convert the Vetterli to centre fire so you can actualy shoot the bloody thing, It becomes an EVIL baby killer and MUST be licenced so you won't run amok with it.

I have one of each Vetterli
