Am in the process of registering a .22 revolover I found in a box left when my Grandmother passed away last November. Phoned CFC today and asked about it and verification is the first step, followed by filling in the proper form. Funny, when she offered up two local verifiers names and numbers I asked her how I was supposed to get the pistol to them for verification without an ATT. She kind of hummed and hawed and basically sounded confused for about 5-10 seconds before she finally comes back with "well, we're not in the business of enforcement - you'll have to ask your local CFO about this". Great, nothing like getting a straight answer from the people who are supposed to know them.

Anyways, once registration is complete I'll have to decide whether to keep the pistol or sell it to buy something else. Sentimental value is one thing but I won't be doing it justice if left to rot in my safe. I checked Gunsamerica for values and could only find NIB ones being sold for between $650.00 and $850.00 USD. Can't seem to find my Blue Book after the move and only had an '86 issue of Gun Trader's Guide which lists them at $200.00 USD (of course, this was published probably within 10 years of the pistol's mfg.). Anyone have a current market value for me? It is the regular Peacemaker model, not Buntline or New Frontier and not Commemorative. Has both cylinders, .22 lr and .22 mag. Grips are perfect, no cracks or chips. Barrel blueing is about 85% or so with a couple of thin spots and a couple of rubs - 3/4 inch rub on the left side of the bbl and running back from the muzzle and then another rub on the front blade sight. Body has plenty of colour case hardening evident but also a fairly good layer of what looks like tarnish on it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
ILBR :D
