Thinking of listing the following pistol on the EE, but don't know what the market is for such beasts. Not a Bubba-job; put together properly in the mid-90s by a local IPSC pistolsmith:

  • Colt Series 70 9mm frame
  • Caspian barstock slide
  • Bar-Sto 9mm barrel
  • Bo-Mar rear, Patridge front
  • S&A funnel
  • Videcki trigger
  • Ed Brown beavertail (safety deactivated) & full-length guide rod
  • Match-grade aftermarket hammer, sear, pins, & springs from various firms
  • Hardchromed
Where should I start, price-wise? Or, given that $1200 STI Trojans have adjustable sights, beavertails, and relieved & chequered frontstraps, should I even bother listing this dinosaur?

How many mags, what's the approx round count etc. Maybe post some pic's, if it's in decent shape $7 - $800 may not be unreasonable considering what some are asking for their "Customized" 1911's

9mm on 1911 platforms seem to be "in demand" these days....
You didn't mention "condition" which I'm sure you know is everything.

But assuming finish etc is good I'd think your not out of line at a $1000......easier to lower the price then raise it :)

Many of us Prefer the "dinosaurs" ;)

Good luck with your sale !

Is the Bo-Mar sight in a proper recessed cut, or is it sitting on top of the slide? If it is in a "deluxe" Bo-Mar cut, good condition, matching finish, Should be around the $1000 mark, probably sell for a bit less.

Thanks, gents. Guess I'll hang onto it. No way could I start over and duplicate it for anything near what you're telling me it'd prolly sell for.

Keep it. Thats a very nice example of a customized 1911, the only thing it's missing really is a checkered front strap. Are you the original owner ? and do you know who built it ?

Original owner, yes. Paul Barrette put it together for me, from a basket of parts I handed him. Couldn't quite afford any of his chequering at the the time.

Been getting by quite nicely with skateboard tape...which seems to have fallen off.

Doing it over, now, I'd have a chequered and relieved frontstrap, I'd have it de-horned, and I've leave it all blue.
