$400 for a nice wood small parts not matching(front ring), plate marked "3", 1916 carl gustav made M96, is it a fair price ?

Yes I'd say anywhere from $350 to $450 is the going price. Get them well you can, trade ex is all out and I'll bet the prices are going to finally increase.

They're great rifles, I absolutely adore mine and my friend's example is nearly as good :) Mismatch parts I'd haggle down to $350-75 if possible given that there's nothing else special about it. If the bore is mint, $400 is still fair.

CONDITION IS THE DETERMINING FACTOR. Swede 96 you can have some parts mismatched such as barrel bands it does devalue the rifle a bit. Condition is everything with any milsurp rifle.

You can never truly go by the stock plate for bore condition. You can never know if they've been switched, or if they have been shot out since they were last gauged.

Got mine for $49.99 from SIR in about 1980 and I'm hanging onto it even though it rarely comes out of the locker.

I was at Reliable last week and just about fell over looking at the hang tag on one. Those are on consignment so maybe the owner insists on prices like that.
