price check G43 rifle

OK. They were bugging me for a mag for it. I know I have two of them that are surplus to my needs. When I find them I will PM you.

Man, this internet thing doesn't keep secrets for long! Yes, I did a 2 for 1 trade. I've been watching zefarm's page valleyguns auction for my old ones to turn up on consignment. I may have given up too much, but the G43 fills a particular hole in the collection and there were duplicates elsewhere.

I wish I could be so generous. After a detailed stripping, degreasing and inspection I found a potentially lethal fault.

The firing pin extension (a square cross section carrier inside the bolt that pushes the locking lugs into place) has two hair line cracks. Not insignificant marks, but 75% through failures that would leave the front 1/2" engaged and the back 3" flopping. The unsupported part would be the one that locks the lugs. Until I can replace this part, Junior isn't doin' nuttin'.

This proves the need to do a detailed strip and pre-firing inspection of every firearm.

I saw your post about this on the Glock and Load forum, that is a great place for anything G43. If they can't help you, noone can. I think this guy has firing pin housing's for sale:

How about just 1 pic?

I wanted to spread the word about a fortuitous visit at Jason's gunshop today. My G43 has a cracked firing pin extension. It would be unsafe to fire as is. Jason offered to take a look at it and maybe TIG weld through the cracks.

Today I was in the area and showed him the part. Wait here, he says. And comes back with a G43 firing pin housing! Not the same serial number, but one in the flesh that I don't have to find or import from Europe! He didn't know what it was when I said the part name, but he recognized it by sight as having one in the parts drawers!

He will still try to TIG weld it, but at least I have a serviceable rifle again. Range report and pics to follow.
