any help would be appreciated.

like the title says

1918 BSA III*

excellent bore
full wood
original matching numbers except mag and sight
someone has added some extra varnish at some point

what are these going for these days.....?

A lot depends on the overall condition (wood etc.) Matching numbers adds value as do certain markings. Shame about the varnish though. Without seeing pics I'd suggest somewhere between $400/$600..

Does the nose cap having matching numbers ? Have you popped the rear hand guard off to see if / when the barrel was replaced during arsenal refurb ? Have you field stripped it to see if all the small parts are there (forend stud and spring, trigger guard front screw bushing, stacking swivel, inner band spring etc ) ? Does it have the correct butt plate ?

A lot of things affect the value.

Need pictures....and if any of the small parts are missing you should disclose that information to any potential buyers.....if you are the buyer ask the seller how complete the rifle is.

Good luck !

oh yeah....search about "that damned crack" find out what it is and check for it....could have a busted forestock in need of repair....yes, I found out the hard way

Careful, I see yellow paint. You will have to ensure it hasn't been "DP'd". Some were marked DP and utilized as Cadet rifles and there's little to nothing wrong with them (at the time of their release) others are DP marked for very good reason and should be gone over before attempting to fire it.

tigertrout.....Have you gained any more info on the rifle...? Are you able to inspect it..? Vermintex and plinker 777 have raised some relevant points...

"...original matching numbers except..." The only ones that matter(except for a collector grade rifle) are the receiver and bolt handle numbers. Those matching gives no guarantee about the headspace being good though.
Wouldn't count on that one being anything but high priced. Only basing that on the web site though.

all I could tell from the pictures is that the wood is mismatched (rear hand guard and butt stock) and the receiver has yellow paint on it as plinker pointed out

butt plate is brass..didn't see that the first time

that's some seriously shiny wood

Paint;
Green; fully serviceable
Yellow; Serviceable, but not as good as green
Red; don't let a live round anywhere near it!
White; strictly for square bashing (drill rifle)
All cadet markings

Tiger, stripping this one down for full inspection could allow to ensure all is right- this, in turn, makes selling it easier; takes the uncertainty out of the equation, and therefore buyers are more prone to spending a reasonable amount for it.
