I have a line on an M1 Carbine that saw service in WW2.
It is a shooter with a shiny bore, minimal surface rust that needs cleaning.
comes with a 5 round clip and a box of .30

The guy is asking $400.
Good deal?

Is it the original barrel? If so, then I believe it would be Restricted. If it's been rebarreled to 18.5" then it would be Non-restricted.

The price? I have no idea, but I get the feeling that would be a really good price, if it's fully legal, registered and in good safe condition. Saw some at the show the other day, and they wanted much more than that...but those might have been special serial numbers, matching, perfect or near perfect condition, desirable manufacturers...

I've seen post war re-builds sell as low as $300 at shows, here on gunnutz they are usually more than $400. I would guess it's a fair price, probably has the post war sights and bayonet mount. Haven't seen nearly as many collectible correct/original as issued M1 Carbines in Canada.

The price seems pretty reasonable, provided it retains the GI barrel (and is thus Restricted in Canada) and has all or mostly all matching parts
