Thinking of parting with H&R Handi rifle in .35 Whelen. 22 inch heavy barrel with very good bore & synthetic stock with raised cheek piece. Finish & condition at a conservative 90% or better. Has Weaver rail & hammer spur with the rifle. One small safe scratch on the receiver; easy touch up, but it's there. Will try & get pics tomorrow if I get a chance & in better light. Not going up right away, as I gotta see it's replacement before I commit... Looked around the E/E and online; not much to compare to. Any thoughts? I gotta a number in my head, but want to hear from others before I make an azz of myself... Again LOL!

They seem to be posted for about $100-200 more than the price they sold for new. The 35 whelen should sell fast for more than id ever consider paying for one

Here's a couple lousy pics off my phone. If I sell it, the scope & rings stay with me. Was setting it up for next year's hunt (if it happens?). Then along came another temptation! Well over 30 years with this addiction & there's no cure for this chit. LOL!

There's a few listed on ####### . They seem to average at about $550 to $600 dollars . A hunting partner of mine just picked one up before Christmas in 45/70 for $ 600 . A decent rifle for the money IMHO .

Agreed , good rifles.
Sad that there going up so much in price. Bought my first one for 289.00. New.
The rifle on ####### has been there for 3 to 4 months..
Due to price?? Or caliber being oddball, ish ..

575 is a bit steep, but in today's time .. bull markets are great for selling, not buying.

I sold 2 last year for 425 and 475 and they took some bumps. One was in a “rare” caliber too.

Maybe I should go to the “ am I out of touch” thread.

People list stuff for crazy prices, doesn’t mean it will sell outside of a minority of “motivated buyers” to put it nicely

Henry single shots blow these out of the water if you can find one. If the price point is that similar it’s a no brainer.

lol, all a seller needs is ONE motivated buyer and he is good to go, minority or not!

Might take a few bumps in that case. Depends on how much you want the cash I suppose, my selling seems to correlate with natural gas and timber prices or I would just hold onto everything

Not only the henry, at $600 you can (if lucky) pick up a howa, remington, ruger, or savage and have a repeater that'll likely out shoot it.

I think I bought and sold mine in 223 for around $450ish, I wasn't fond of the thing.
I do have a h&r tamer in 20ga that I drag around everywhere, so I do like some versions.

Yes the days of a single shot cheaper than a bolt gun seem to be gone. Some of us like them though. With the way ruger no 1s are going it seems better to buy a Haenel, basically the same price now. Buy those are no longer being made. The no 1 is a great gun but damn have they gotten expensive

Henry is looking like a great option if you want to play with a single shot. Wish they would come out with a 500 S&W, miss my H&R. Besides that chambering the guns do nothing for me, honestly preferred the baikals I’ve had

Hard times to be a single shot fan.

Based on what I traded for the one I had, and what I traded it for, I would put the real world value at $500.00. Mine was a NEA .223 with wood. Nice rifle, but I just am not a .223 guy since my AR went to rifle jail.

I’ve never handled one of those but I researched the BA-13 which is the same gun in different chamberings a lot before finding out you couldn’t get them in NA. Seems like they are very popular in NZ, Australia and Europe as a budget “kipplauf”. Has the takedown feature that is missing from the handi and Henry too. Might be a good score

Really good deal on a krieghoff on the E.E at the moment; ten handi rifles at today’s exchange rate :dancingbanana:
