Hey, I'm wondering what would be a fair offering price for a Remington model 7 3 hole action? It needs some work, someone botched the drilling and tapping of the holes for bases and it needs those probable re tapped. I have a 7mm-08 barrel to go on it to replace the current .308 barrel that some brain child drilled into the chamber of trying to tap the hole for bases.

1992 manufacture date, synthetic stock and bottom metal all included.

There could be an issue here. remington actions are tapped for 6X48 screws, it's easy to retap to 8X40. If someone has drilled to a larger size you now have a problem, you can go larger but you have something that is not in the norm of things. It may involve enlarging the base holes .

Would $300 be a reasonable offer or should I go lower?

You don't give us enough information. Is this a complete rifle with screwed up chamber and receiver mount holes or is it a barreled action with trigger guard/trigger/mag well and screws.

If it's a complete rifle and the stock is still usable then your $300 offer is reasonable. If you have to replace the stock, trigger guard, trigger and mag well screws then IMHO you are offering top dollar. You will be looking at another $500 to get that rifle back to shootable condition. You can purchase a short action SPS brand new in the box for that price.

Fair enough, It is a complete rifle. I have been told that it is just the action screws and barrel that is pooched by the seller. I have asked to be sent more pictures and am waiting on those for my final decision. I have a stainless 7mm-08 barrel waiting for a Remington action to be spun on to.

Jim870, You do make giving you an answer difficult. If the ACTION screws are hooped then don't go near it unless you have the equipment to properly clean up those holes. If on the other hand you are talking about the scope base screw holes your price of $300 is reasonable IMHO.
