Hi Folks,

Could you identify this 22 and give me a value? It is a take-down, bottom ejecting, semi-auto with a tubular, butt loading magazine. Chip out of stock, right side where the receiver ends, by the trigger guard.

Markings: Fabrique Nationale D' Guerre Herstal Belgique Browning Patent - Depose, 22 Long Rifle Smokeless

$100, maybe.
Assuming good bore and proper functioning.
The stores around here wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole.

It's a Browning Patent .22 semi.
Invented early in the 20th century - around 1911 as I remember.
Browning had a falling out with Winchester so licensed Remington to make them, 1922-1935, model 24. He also licensed FN to make them, 1914-1955. They produced the one you have. In the 50's (probably 1956) Browning took over the license but FN still made them with the Browning company name on them.
In 1974 Browning moved production to Miroku, Japan.
It's still in production and you can download a manual at brownng.com

Looks like an old browning semi auto .22 with the barrel choped off and custom scopemount. How does it Shoot?

Looks like a Weaver C-4, or Weaver Challenger scope in an N-2 mount. Those 8 x40 holes in the receiver for the scope, and the cut down barrel pretty well eliminate any collector value it may have. All of it is correctable, except for the tapped holes in the receiver. It will probably have more value as a shooter....
