Price check on HK 630 and 300

Hey everyone.

So my uncle was a big gun guy in his day. Sadly he has recently been placed into palliative care. I'm the only other person within the family that has any experience with firearms, so I've been asked to look into pricing of his firearms for a potential sale. He has both a sporter stocked H&K 630 chambered in .223 and a sporter stocked H&K 300 chambered in 22wmr. They are in mint condition, with not a mark on them. I'm having a hard time finding previous sales info, or even a recent price as they seem to be rather rare. So any of you knowledgeable CGN members have any idea of the price range or general information on the models?

Pricing is going to be all over the place since, as you've noted, they're not that common. I'd reckon the 630 would be in the $1750-$2000 range + more if it comes with additional magazines or the HK05 scope mount, which alone is a $500 item. Keep in mind, the 630 was on the expanded Liberal hit list (since rescinded) along with its kissing cousin the SL6. Since it remains non-restricted, depending on the buyer that may be either a plus or a minus to pricing. Honestly, for an HK collector it might be any easy $2500+ sale.

The HK300 I'd also ballpark in the $1500 range. I'm pretty sure I've seen 270s go for that on the EE.

In either case, if you're in no rush to sell, it never hurts to price up and move down... harder to go the other way. And like everything, it depends on the right buyer, so trying to get a general consensus on pricing is likely to raise a lot of differing opinions.

Ya he's got the mounts for both. He's got H&K bags, H&K tool kits, and cleaning kits as well as two magazines each. Like I said they are in great shape. He clearly treated these firearms with great care. I honestly had never heard of these rifles before today. Just signed up for the H&K forum, hopefully I can find out more info on them from there. These are great looking rifles, seem to be built like a tank as well. If this is the quality H&K is generally putting out then I'm impressed.

Coincidentally, a person on another site (GP) was looking for both an HK 630 and 300, but has since taken down his ad. He was located in Ontario, but may be worth sending a message to to ask if he found what he wanted and how much it cost...

I'll have to check that out, I didn't get that info last I was there. I've checked the FRT and there is a 20inch version and a 17.75 inch barrel version. I'm hoping it's the NR version and not the one with the just under 18inch barrel. I would assume naturally the NR is worth more then the restricted variety unless sold to a H&K collector.

The 300 is a sweet gun, new buffers should still be available in the states. Only a couple reliable, quality 22wmr semi autos to choose from and most would say it’s at the top.

The barrel on the 630 are over 18-1/2", I think 19" ,I haven't measured mine in a long while. The value will go up with the extras your uncle has, it's the funnest semi I've ever shot, throws brass almost 50 feet, so I don't reload for it.

I assume the 630 also has the fluted chamber so also leaves the brass nicely marked up with a striped pattern?

Yes the 630 has a fluted chamber, so no use loading nice Lapua/Norma brass to ruin. I guess worth reloading with range free pick up brass?
I paid just over $2K for mine bare bones a decade ago, minty. So add $500 for H&K mount and rings, $200 plus for every extra magazine, and if it has extra clean/repair kit add another $200 at least.
Great rifle for those of us who prefer wood quality built rifles!

Sorry to hear about your uncle. The 300 is a super fun, well built 22mag semi, arguably the best. OEM mags would add to the the value. There are 5, 10 and 15 Rd mags. I think tripleK makes an aftermarket mag and even they are quite pricy.
The OEM scope mount is at least 500$, and even the aftermarket one, from B-square IIRC, is 250-300 if you can find one.

Just look at what lesser 22mag semis (like the cz) are pulling in. I would say if it's in as good condition as you describe $1500 for just the rifle, minimum.

Depending on the relationship you have with your uncle and his family's financial status, it may (or may not) make him happier if someone in the family has the rifle. He might be happier for you to have it at what he judges is a fair cost or what he paid for it, than getting the most out of a stranger. The 300 is definitely the type of rifle you can enjoy with your kids then pass down to them, or even back to one of his kids or kids' kids later on.

I sold a HK model 300 with correct scope mount, 4 or 5 15 shot mags and a stubby 5 shot mag for $2k almost 3 years ago. It was a tack driver and completely devastating on prairie gophers. I wish I kept it. Good luck

The issue with reloading for the HK isn't as much the flutting marks on the brass... Than the big dent it will leave on it, as the gun tries to toss it in the next time zone...
