Hi folks - just trying to get a ball-park sense of the value of a couple Pre-64s that might come my way.

Standard grades, both in good shape, crisp rifling, no rust, both hunted (probably not much) so some marks on the wood.

First is 1960 300 H&H

Second is a 1951-52 308 featherweight

thanks

You may want to check the results from Switzers auction held earlier today. There may have been some comparable a sold today. Some items didn’t get much love while others were bud up at closing.

Thanks that is helpful. A little harder to find values on the 300. I'm assuming the 308 would be in the ballpark of a 30-06 or 270

If it helps at all to come up with a price - Winchester introduced the 308 Win in 1952 - two years before NATO adopted the 7.62x51 - so if that one is made in 1952, that would be the first year for that chambering - not first year, at all, for the action or for a Win stamped 30 cal barrel, but for that chambering. The twist rate might have been made differently than previous? (I do not know).

Thanks folks. Appreciate the info.

Looks like the serial number of the 308 corresponds to a late '51 production.

Jeeez, that .308win is a beauty.
After seeing the Lumby prices on the used lever stuff, fruck, two bits with the scope should draw some attention.
Wish I had that sort of coin to offer up.

Be proud pack'in that thing in the bush and wear some awf the new awffer.
