I've been eyeing a couple of Weatherby Mark XXII semi-autos, both are Italian-made (which I think indicates early production?)

What would be a "fair" price for one of these in Canada? One is in very good, all original condition while the other comes with a replacement stock (needs to be fitted).

I've wanted a Weatherby 22 ever since I saw one as a kid at Robinsons Sporting Goods in Victoria, back in the 80's --- I think it was the bolt action version. Does anyone have personal experience with the semis?

Much appreciated!

If it is an Early Italian model it will have a checkered metal butplate and highly figured claro walnut, and run in good to excellent condition around $500 to $750, the other with the replaced stock is not worth that much as the stock is probably sub grade walnut not checkered and NOT ORIGINAL, I would pay depending on metal finish $200-$350 tops. These are real accurate and great functioning guns, I hope it works out for you! You can still order magazines and some parts right from Weatherby still, cheers Dale in T-Bay

I have a 1969 Weatherby XXII made in Italy by Beretta.
It also has the original 3-9X40 Weatherby TV scope.
This one is going to be passed on to my son...
These are getting few and far between to find.
Jump on them when you can! ;)

Whamo your gun is great later production Italy gun! The gun came with optional 4X Weatherby scope with internal mounts, yours ust have been an special extra with that larger Mark IV scope, looks great! cheers dale!

Browsing through Gunbroker, I've noticed that some Mark XXII that are marked as "Made in Italy" don't have the spliced foreend tip as shown in the Wham-Os picture (very nice BTW). Here's what I'm talking about...

Would this type of stock be typical as well of early Italian made Weatherby's?

I've decided to pass on the rifle with the replacement stock. While the wood and pattern looked very similar to Wham-O's stock, it still needed final inletting, shaping, and checkering. If I had the time, it would be a nice project, but it seems a shame to buy a Weatherby without the trademark Weatherby stock.

I'll post pictures when the rifle arrives... I'll be happy if it looks half as nice as the one posted by Wham-O. What are the chances of finding one of the original Weatherby 4x scopes/mounts?

It's funny how we remember things. I could have sworn that the Weatherby 22lr that I saw at Robinsons 25 years ago was a bolt action, but it must have been a semi-auto. What I do remember was that the rifle was standing in a floor rack with the floorplate facing out, and I was caught by the trim shape of the stock's forearm... I'll know soon enough if that memory was correct!

The stocks without the roeswood forend tip are the first batch of the Italy guns. Ross nice collection of Berretas! I blew a chance to own the gun you have( middle rifle) with factory 2.5 power scope and mount, wish I could go back in time and buy it! It shot bug size groups, cheers Dale in T-Bay

Beautiful rifles, Ross. Thanks for posting. I had no idea that Beretta made other 22 semi rifles... I'm going to go read about them now.

I have a Beretta-made Garand so with the Beretta-made Weatherby, I'm starting my own small collection of Berettas ;)

Thanks for the comments guys. I sold the middle rifle a couple of years ago it is the model called a "Super Sport" and was made in the early eighties. The bottom rifle is called a "Sport" and was made in 1961, in all my years of scrounging it is the only one I have seen around here, they are very scarce.
