Gents:

If you had access to an original M14 rear sight - not Garand, mind you, but actual, honest-to-God M14 GI spec, lots of finish remaining, elevation knob calibrated in meters, M14 sight cover, knobs, aperture, and spindle, what would be a fair price for it?

Yours in curiosity,

Dan

i see these selling for up to 150.00 plus on *bay.... and depending on condition and manufacture.... matching original parts..... ect.... going for 50.00 to 175.00 on popular u.s. website's equipment exchanges. I have seen them priced higher as well.... really depends on the details.

Brand new real USGI M14 sights typically go for in the range as above(I'd say $150 if lucky, upwards towards $200 likely nowadays for the entire assembly).

Used ones would go for less obviously. Real USGI NM sights about typically be towards $100 more than the regular sights of the same condition.

Note, these are not to be confused with SAI's versions of M14 sights

I have an HRA m14 rear sight in excellent condition.... not sure if i'd sell it though...... but ya never know, it may end up in the ee one day ;)

Don't even bother with the M14 sights marked in meters. Most of you are not even gonna be competing super seriously with your irons.

AND if you were competing anywhere near the level I used to (and get my ass beaten every match anyways) , all I had to do when switching from a yards range with all my settings (written in my notebook), was to ADD ONE Klik!! That's all ! Nothinge else.

So save yer money for practice ammo or my M14 clinic when it comes out to Western Kanada (Harper Land). yuk yuk yuk

If you don't have rear sights in meters, yer #### is gonna fall off.

It's funny, you see the m14 sight go for large on ebay when a garand sight for under a hundred is on par peformance whise. Like hungry says... meters or yards.... what's the difference really. I got my sight with a parts rifle i purchased so it makes sense to use it instead of the norc ones. If i didn't have that, I'd buy a garand over a "real one" any time and spend my $$$ on ammo, scope mount, stock..... ect.

milarms told me they "stripped" one gun and had no parts. m1 garand rear sight for norc---more common--don't think wildlife cares if sights are metric or yards---still dead!

they had a synthetic stock too, for cheap by todays prices... my brother inlaw had a look at it and said it was nice. It was still there the other day ;)
250 for a SA trigger group? that's steep  trw, hra now we're talkin.... a fellow from here bought the bolt and oprod from the gun they are parting out...... for HALF what it woulda cost him otherwise..... he got a smokin deal. :D

Well, if anyone is looking I think Milarm still has one for $100. I think the USGI SA trigger group is there for $250. Anyway, just giving the heads up.

This is the very one I was wondering about. The price seems to change based on who you ask. On Thursday, I talked with a guy at Milarm on the phone who told me $54.00. "Great", I thought. "I can get that for $54, roll it over on the EE at CGN for $100.00, make $46.00 from someone who fears #### loss. Sweet!"

Saturday I pop in, get a look at it. It looks good. I ask for price confirmation. I'm told it's now $75.00. "Guy on the phone told me $54 on Thursday" I says.

"$54.00? Guy must have been on crack."

Hell of a thing to suggest about a coworker. I give them back their sight. Not enough profit in it for me. Now Skooch says we're up to $100. I'm curious to see just how high it goes.

On Saturday they still had the trigger group. Looked quite worn to me, but I didn't bother to pick it up and look at it closely.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Dan

It's SA, and as confirmed by my brother inlaw when he checked it out.... he said it felt a bit loose, had creep and too much hammer hook wear for our interests. if it was 125.00 i'd get him to go take a second look, which is the typical prices for a well used sa trigger group on the u.s. sites from what i've seen

Talk to Mike as he knows the prices and parts availability. All others haven't got a clue. The price for the sight, I was told by Allen and Mike, was $100. If someone offers you less grab it! Its in near mint condition. The Winchester M14 the parts came off of was in VG condition so I'm suprised that some are saying the trigger group is ####e. Actually the trigger group looked quite good... worth about $200 though IMHO. I'll pop in and give her a more detailed inspection tomorrow.

I wasn't there skooch., i'm in b.c..... my brother inlaw lives 10 minutes from milarm and got him to drop in and check it out. Not knockin the good ol boys at milarm.... I love that shop. He may not have the eye that you or i may have for what's good or not... so ya never know.

This is why I want to swing by tomorrow. I only gave it a quick look over. Now I want to give it a detailed inspection. If its not all that good I'll suggest they lower the price and let you all know. Thanks for bringing this to my attention 45ACPKING.

There actually may be a lot of Garand sights available near the end of the month. As well as other parts... in very servicable but fair to good condition, ie. finish gone, slight to moderate external pitting. Mostly cosmetic. I'll keep ya'll posted.

They go for $75 -85 U.S. around here in good shape .
You really need to make sure the "Tooth" is nice and sharp on the elevation pinion so it can engage the serations in the receiver with nice sharp destinct clicks . Also make sure the pinion is not cracked !
They crack very easliy ,I bet I have 30 or 40 cracked ones !
Hope this helps .....
Mike

Rear sight is HRA and in excellent condition, no damage, all finish present except for a small scuff on the windage pinion. The trigger group is SA and the finish is about 75%. The internals are 10 times better than a Nork. Pull felt much better than a stock Nork and there is no damage to the internals.
