Just wondered what you would pay for a unfired Smith 29-2 8 3-8s inch with box and original unused brush. I mean mint does not even have a roll mark on the cylinder

I just bought one and wondered its value I think I did well I will post the price i payed whan i get some replies

I have been looking for one ove these for years in this condition and to think I get to pull the trigger first !!! at this guns age is a treat.

Since I've seen a couple of used ones going for that much with no box and unused brush and with a noticable ring on the cylinder I'd say you got a good deal. Maybe not a killer deal but you won't lose any money on it when you sell by any means.

I was concidering not shooting it, but that is generaly not my style!

The neat thng about it is and thinking about just the fact I will be able to pull the trigger on a 29-2 for the first time in 40 plus years, I doubt it will have much impact on the value..in my eyes and at this time I do not care I bought it because I wanted one.

I bought the same gun, only with a nickel finish, excellent condtion for $900. No box though.

Well, I'd say from my looking around that if you got it in the 750-800 range then you got it for the going price of a really nice clean shooter. So by taking its virginity, assuming it really is unfired, then at worst you'll bring the value down to what you paid for it.

The collectors will cringe at reading this stuff but like you I feel that a gun is a kinetic object. It only fulfulls its design purpose when it does what it was made to do. So go have fun.
