Looking for prices on a remington sendero magnum and the 700 xcr magnum in excellent used condition. I was recently told about large price drops on used rifles and I thought that especially at this time of year these types of rifles should bring a good buck?

Kind of depends on whether you're buying or selling and what magnum calibre the rifles are chambered in. If the Sendero is chambered in one of the SAUM calibres, you may have to wait awhile to sell.

For what you described, I'd look to pay something like $800 for a good used XCR (bare rifle) and maybe $100 to $ $125 more for the Sendero.
Most of all, besides overall condition, I'd be looking for something with a low round count. One that's had a significant amount of shooting ... may well be for sale because it's accuracy is beginning to noticeably decline.

"...especially at this time of year..." Not just before hunting season. However, like gunrunner100 says, it'll depend on what it's chambered for.
