price check pre 64 model 100

jam-a-matics?

You ever try cleaning your jam a matic? I have one and have fired several thousand rounds thrue and never once had it jam... But i also take it home after and clean and lube it...

Back to price! I have between the woodstock show and eganville show seen them sold all the way to 600$ depending on condition... I very recently seen a freind of mine sell his 100 in 243 to a fellow gun dealer and it was on an eganville table for 650!

Well i would say you got a lemon as far as jamming... I have fired many of them in 3 different calibers and thousand of rounds thru my own with never a problem...

As for accuracy ya they arent the #### by any means but they are short like a carbine and more ment to be bush runners not MOA tack drivers... For there purpose they work extremly well... Same as a model 94 not very acurate not a long range target gun but absolutly devestating on deer in the bush! You have to get the right tool for the job!

Granted, but the few 94's ive got in both 30-30 and .44 are much more accurate than one model 100 i've had. The other went full auto on me on many occasions, and got traded off as well. I just don't like em. You do, that's cool with me! :) I'll agree they'll kill deer just as well as any other firearm.

I have a few short 20'' barreled bush carbines as well, and they can all do MOA if not better.

As Col. Townsend Whelen once said "only accurate guns are interesting."

Pre and post '64 applies to Model 94's and Model 70's.

I would have to disagree with that. Most of Winchesters models went through differences (soem major, some minor) with the re-design of 1964. The Model 100 and Model 88 are no exception.

I think every models that was made before and after 1964 will see a slight to significant premium if it was pre-64.

Yes i also have a 1913 model 94 in 32spcl that will outshoot my 100 all day long... As for the full auto there is and has been a recall on these guns for the last 15yrs do to the firing pin and just this excact scenario...

And yes its to personnal preference but telling someone who potentially wants one that they are no good because the model or models you had either did not have the proper recall or service work or had another malfunction that may have been rectifiable isnt to cool... If the man is looking for a brush rifle or a 100 to 200 yard deer rifle the model 100 is more then acceptable... Thats like saying the 30 06 is no good anymore and arent a proper hunting round because the 300 mags out do them in every aspect.... It is all in the eye of the beholder... I have and probably there have been more deer shot with the "Inacurate" 94 and 100 then those moa carbines you speek of... If you are looking at mo kill shot at 100-200 yrds for a cheap price then the 100 and 94 fit the bill perfectly and they are quite plentifull and easy to find!

And i dont beleive he asked for opinions on wether they are junk or jam a matics he asked values and it was taken off topic...

Again i have seen pre 64 100 depending on shape and seller go from 350-600 range....

In Alta. a good one SELLS for $400. Some aswk more but seldom rrecieve it. I'v had 3 and the were all just OK, nothing great & no target gun. The deer howevere seemed to fall over just fine. just imho AJ

Sorry to break it to ya bud, that's what we do here on CGN. We discuss guns, whether it be good or bad. Whammy certainly does not seem to have an issue with my personal opinion, it sounds like you are offended because I said something bad about a gun you own and like. You're gonna have to get a thicker skin if you want to hang around here. :runaway:

Have a look around. Model 100's are not known for their accuracy or reliability.

You based your so called opinion on a malfunctioning improperlly serviced fire arm that if you had taken the time to check would have seen that there is a recall on the issue you were having ..... If you had done the proper maintenance and performed the service recall the gun would have been much better i am sure... Not hurt or insulted at all! I understand that the forum is for discussing info... But i figured you would come here for Knowledgable info not misinformed improper opinions of a firearm you didnt service properly! And yes my skin is fine i think you should educate yourself about the subject you are discussing before trying to change a mans plans or opinion with your misguided information! And i dont need to look around for accuracy and reliability i can go on my PERSONNAL AND EDUCATED experience in owning 6 of these firearms at one time or another and firing thousands of rounds threw them and never having a problem with my PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND SERVICED FIREARMS!

When i worked in the shop, both the 88 and the 100 were tough to unload, $400 if your very lucky and the purchaser hasn't had one before.

For what it's worth, the Model 100 that I speak of that had a few multiple shot bursts had indeed had the firing pin changed on the recall. And yes, it was cleaned after each outing.

My "PERSONAL AND EDUCATED" experience has shown that these guns are indeed not worth their weight in gold... or any metal for that matter. I worked in a gunshop for a few years as well, and as Ben Hunchak can attest... these guns routinely sit on the shelf.
