Have a very early 6" m-27. Blue is perfect, paid 400 and ran away before they changed their mind!

M-27s were more than that 10 years ago!
M-28s however were/are a different story...
BTW, if you are actively looking for a 5" M-27, a friend of mine had 2 NIB for sale a while ago (I believe 1 sold).
I bought the first 1 I ever saw, and 5 years later bought the second. In the last few years I've seen an average of 1/year.
Truely the M-27 is the nicest post-war gun S&W made. Of course they acknowledge it to be their "flagship" gun (ala Python for Colt).

It all depends on the conditions at the time. A friend of mine had a hell of a time selling a Colt Python for way too little money. Not that much interest in quality revolvers from new shooters. Everyone wants semi-autos. Takes time to get some people to appreciate revolvers.
Last year I bought a Ruger Mark II, a S&W 586 (with a little blueing rubbed off at the muzzle but otherwise a tight gun), and a 6" 44 magnum model 29 in almost new condition in a presentation box. All for $600.
I later sold the 586 to a dealer for $300. Nice gun but I already have one. I use the Ruger as a loaner gun for new shooter. I plan on keeping the 29.
Sometimes you get lucky. Most 27s are going to sell upwards of $500, with rarer versions worth substantially more. Depending on age, series (-2, -3 etc), options and conditions, there are 27s out there that will weigh in over 2 grand. Personally, I'm still looking for a 3 1/2 inch and a four inch, just to fill some gaps in the cupboard. - dan

He was being forced to sell off all his guns (Huterite Colony). He called me up and said he wanted to sell that day. I also transferred all his long guns into my name until he resolved the issues. I sold some of his guns for him. We finally did transfer the remainder back to him. He was in a tight spot. He came up with the price that I could not refuse.
I've had other deals like this but where the owner was not under such pressure. Usually guys who quit shooting years earlier and just want to get rid of their guns. One particular guy had four guns. A High Standard Citation rapid fire gun, a 357 Ruger Blackhawk, a byf P38, and a 42 Luger. I forget what the High Standard cost me but the Blackhawk was $250. The War guns as he called them, the P38 was $150 but the Luger (what some call the Black Widow model, two matching mags & holster) was a little higher at $175. All numbers matched. Bore is not perfect but looks quite good. Exterior is very very good condition except at the end of the barrel. He had made a compensator for the gun and used two set screws to hold it firmly in place. The drilled dents are the only real flaw on the gun. I tell people that the dents were from the original silencer for the gun, but since silencers are prohibited in Canada, it had to be destroyed.
At the time (about 1999) I didn't know what they sold for but I did know it was a good deal. I've had a number of fantastic deals like this over the years. When offered a gift horse you just have to take it.
