Price Check - Schmidt Rubin K31

Kampfhamster, any idea what the deal would be to export some K-31s from Switzerland?

Hmm, Maybe I'll leave an email/PM for Questar I wonder if they could do a group buy?

I'm not sure a group buy for Canadian Swiss rifle collectors is for everybody. ;)

I've imported a number of Swiss rifles directly from Switzerland and the guys over on the Swiss Rifles Forums have done group buys. It's very easy to do and takes about 10 days to get the paperwork approved from Clive Law's office in Ottawa, who handles Import/Export documentation. The quality and provenance of the pieces are far better then you usually see for sale at gun dealers in Canada, or even on-line, however, the pricing is much more expensive. I'd only recommend this route for serious collector Swiss rifle shooters, who want to get the best quality collector pieces that they can also shoot. I've put below pics and links to two examples of Swiss rifles I've imported, plus I currently have an 1889 Schmidt-Rubin (one of the first 200 ever made) manufactured in 1891 on its way.

BTW, diopter on this board handles a number of Swiss Rifle accessories and sights as a distributor for St. Marie scope mount products. He has excellent pricing and does group buys for these add-ons.

Well I now own a K-31

I didn't quite expect this question to go off in the different directions on war and peace, however, I did get the K-31 ( Made 1952 ). The gun is in very good condition and was bought to Canada by a Swiss imigrant who passed away recently and his widow returned to Switzerlamd , I never met her. I traded a shotgun for the K-31 with the person it was left to, a lot of history in these guns. Unfortunately, the issue bayonet went elsewhere but the oil / cleaning kit and mess kit came with the rifle.

The blueing on the rifle is excellent but the wood shows the carry marks indicative of these rifles. All the numbers match and the issued soldiers tag is under the butt plate. It was well maintained and the bore had been well greased for storage and a muzzle cap in place with sling.

Now for my next question.... No problem reloading as from what I have read I can use .308 caliber bullet heads. What I need now is some 7.5x55 brass or if anybody has a source for 7.5 Schmidt ammo in Canada I would like to hear from you.

Thanks for the replies folks but lets stick with the question and not make this a political forum for rights and wrongs of Switzerland vs. Germany in WW II.

Thanks,

For reloading, simply running some ..284 winchester brass into your full length 7.5x55 die is all that is needed. Standard .308 bullets are used as you already know.
