Price for a Valmet 78

Have a few Valmet 78's I'm thinking of selling. What do they go for these days?

That's a bit low, more like 3500-4500, this is the M78 not the Hunter. I also have both 223 and 308.

I sold mine for $3500 a couple of years ago.

It had a repairable rear sight issue but otherwise was in good shape. Pic doesn't show the scope mount.

You have a small market that wants them, but they will sell.

I'd go around $3500 for the 308 and $4K (maybe a little more) for the 223. Too bad you didn't have a 7.62x39, I know a guy who turned down just less than $6K for one.

I know a guy who turned down just less than $6K for one.

Apparently one (7.62x39) just sold on Gunbroker last week for $4400 US (NIB though)... To a Canadian too !

I have one in 308... From what I've seen I would ask 4500 with one mag.

I had a mint condition M78 with 2 mags and scope mount cover. Traded it for a 1919 semi in excellent/mint condition. I'm more than happy with the trade, but I do miss my M78.

I say $4000-$4500 for an entry level used condition m78 in .308 with 1 or 2 mags . I believe a NIB milled .308 with, birth certificate, extra mags manual, scope mount, bayo, sling, port buffer, cleaning kit, (full meal deal) went for $6500 last year on another Canadian website. .223 and 7.62x39 are also worth a premium over .308. $3000-$3500 is a bit optimistic for the buyer in my humble opinion.

I picked an M78 about a year ago for prices quoted above and I picked up a Hunter with Scope mount for $3000 last spring.
