Price for a Valmet 78

How much for this guy?

Sold my M78 about a year and a half ago for $3500 in about 5 minutes on the EE. Within an hour I had offers of $4000 but turned them down to sell to the first guy on the list.
 
I say from what I have seen they usually start at $4500 for a used but still decent example with one mag in .308. Much more for a NIB or with extra mags. About $250 for a Valmet 20 or MCP 30 round .308 mag. Railed scope mounts seem to go for $450- $500. If you fluke into any of these for for less you are lucky. Stamped Valmet receivers are good, 1.5 mm thick! Most AKs are only 1mm. Milled is even better. .308 is the most common and other calibers are worth an extra premium.

They are the only real AK / RPK we can have up here. Probably the best ever made, and non restricted to boot so you can hunt with them!
I can only see their value going up as there will be no more made. I want !!!!
 
That is surprising that they go for near that given the amount of non-restricteds available now for less. There was a time when the prices were very high because there wasn't many similar non-restriceds out there, but those days are gone.

I'd be curious what people are buying them for? Just the historic value?
