Any one else experiencing retailers price gouging with the current powder shortages? Just had a local dealer just try charging me 104 for two 1lbs cans of RL19. Im going thank my locals who are not gouging.

Seems a bit steep. I've noticed that Alliant in particular has gone through the roof. I paid something like $45 for a pound of rl7 a number of months back. But that was at Cabelas.

At that price AA5744 suddenly becomes cheap by comparison...

If I could find the powder I want I would pay whatever for it right now....well obviously limits. I just can't find Benchmark, Unique or Bullseye anywhere.

I bought 2lbs locally (1 x RL19 and 1x RL22) and they were $39.99/lb + tax. Came to $89.50

Price has been $35/lb for years at this store but they were apparently hit with a price increase on a few of the powders....apparently Alliant was one of them.

If you want to get around the high price or powder, invest a bunch of money and open your own shop, get licensing, buy enough product to fill your shelves, hire staff, pay for heat and electricity, etc.... Voila......no more high powder prices because you will sell for below cost and everyone will be lined up at your doors. ;)

Our dollar isn't helping anything either at 92 cents US, before the powder drought we were on the plus side of the US dollar. Also suppliers in the USA don't need to sell to Canada at all to get rid of their stock so our dealers are paying accordingly to get stock in their stores. Though not a last minute hoarder I always made sure I had enough stock to outlast shortages like this and the great primer shortage years ago.

TSE had Unique listed a few days ago. At $40 per pound they might still have some. The Bullseye was gone before I could get my order in.

Store here is 47-59$ a lbs BEFORE tax ... No thanks ! Even with having to ship I still save 15-25$ a lbs..

Local store while has nice guys to deal with, can get bent . Rumours of a big chain store opening close, maybe it will smarten them up a bit

Our dollar lost 10% of his value and demand is why higher than offer right now.
Got 2 pounds of Varget because I was on a notification list. All 50 containers were gone in a few hours.
Think I paid 39$ a pound.

The Hodgdon powder I bought about 2 years ago (H4895, H4831) has a sticker of $26.54
Just bought some about a month ago and it's up to $30.94
Can't say I've got much to complain about.

I can somewhat regularly find most powders I use other than Alliant. Haven't had much issue getting Benchmark, H4895, H4198, H4831, and even managed to score 4lbs of SR-4759 recently for $29.99/lb.
I'm buying all I can with my meager budget. Being back in school is eating up most funds.

My sources are LeBarons and the Stittsville range store here in Ottawa.
Primers are hit or miss and brass is non-existent locally.

I feel the same about the local store, like the guys but not the prices.... However I've never been able to confirm if the WSS rumor is more then just rumor, you have any info you can share?

It's funny, considering in Washington state I was just at Cabelas and their shelves were full, all at normal prices, so yah , the dealer is taking advantage of you ! Just remember next time you need some to try somewhere else !

I think I just paid $82 for 2lbs of H1000, yeah the prices are getting high, but you also gotta look at the fact that maybe suppliers to these stores are charging them more for the powder and maybe they are still only making what they made before. It's expensive but it's not gonna stop me from buying more when I need it, cause I know one thing for sure, I'm not gonna stop shooting or hunting!
