Price gouging

I'm sure glad I had lots of Varget purchased at 35.00 a pound after tax , has been seeing excellent use trading for powders I find I'm in more need of lately. Haven't had a need to load any .308 and my other .30cal rifles are shooting better with imr3031 and 4895 which i can still source for under 60 a pound through a local guy with some put away.

But ya.... pretty soon reloading components are going to outprice factory loaded rounds..... even at the 72.99 for a box of 20 my preferred magnum load.

Without reading through 19 pages, I think it's greasy as f@ck but if people are stupid enough to pay that much they will keep doing it.

Buddy said they had some Varget at our local shop this week. $75.00 a pound. Add the sales tax and your $84.00. Now if you have to pay shipping and Dangerous Goods surcharge well you are talking big $$$$$$. Who new buying a few big jugs of this stuff a few years ago would out perform my best investments? These are changing times we are living in.

A few years back I practically begged people to cash in on a deal I'd found for some IMR powder for 100 bucks a keg. A couple tag teamed in to save shipping but mostly they didn't. Hodgdon for 160 a 8 lb keg? Na, they were good for now. I bought pallets; which probably didn't help my reputation for being between mildly eccentric and quite crazed but who's laughing now? I suppose I could auction some stuff off, and wait to buy low again which throughout my life has always happened, but I'd sort of rather just be happy knowing I've got it covered for myself. I'm haunted by guys who tell me about buying out Gevelot for 60 bucks a barrel when they shut down. Their grand-children are still shooting that powder.

I hear you on the investment side; clearly missed the boat there. ;)

Demise of the sport if this continues. Let alone new people getting into it. Sure, they might get a pal but then quickly realize they want no part of it.

For those whiny c#$@s that are complaining about guys gouging, I'm sure that if a seller say priced a lb of varget at $20 you would be tripping over yourselves to tell him "hey mister seller, you are asking way too little for that powder, i would be more than willing to pay much more for that. "

Right?....riggghhhtt?
Thought so. Worse than a bunch of 12 year old school girls.

reality is many people are hurting for cash money right now and if they see an angle to generate said cash they are going to take it.
3000 for 16 pounds of gun powder is just silly LOL but the guy that buys it is even sillier. LOL

The market drives the price but only if someone buys. A fool and his money are soon parted. If you are going to pay prices like that you better know who you are dealing with; ripe for fraud. 16 Lbs of sawdust anyone? But the same can be said for a lot of other things as well. Greed & fear in the market right now. FOMO.

I have seen other practises from dealers on here which are questionable. They basically leave you no other choice as to leave them alone. #####ing and name calling doesn't help. It's not illegal but certainly violates the rules of good taste. Nothing you can do about it.

Also, CGN doesn’t allow for anything negative to be really discussed publicly.

There is more whining on hear about prices then there is gouging. What about free market? If you don't like the price don't pay it.

Just think what it would be like if the stupid Liberal government we have set the prices we would pay for the goods they would let us purchase .

Agree, but most 12 yo girls whine less than 25 yo males these days. Social media is responsible.

There seems to be some crazy asking prices for powder on here...
.So much so it would be cheaper to buy factory ammo and pull the bullets for powder?

Its getting ridicoulous to see over $100/lb for powder?

Not when factory ammo is $3-4 per round.
