Hello,

I'm looking for a lever action in 357/38 sp. With a side gate. I noticed mostly all lever actions used and new are over 1500. How likely is it I will find what I'm looking for for under 1000? I'm no looking for anything pretty, just a good do-all rifle that works well and isn't afraid of getting dinged up.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, not very likely will they ever go under a grand. I would even say its been over a decade since that was remotely possible. Fun hobby we have here lol

Go to all the gunshows coming up, take a pocket full of cash
Phone gunshops, will you find one , maybe? who knows.
last marlin in 357m I seen sold was $ 750 8-10 yrs ago, sat on the table for 2 minutes

Levtac, Firearms Outlet had a big discount on those some time ago.,

Was tempted, but a bit of research showed it would be good to get a bunch of upgrades on follower and springs, and I really didn't want another Project.

These days I am looking for : "it works straight out the box".

For less than a grand, your best option is the Rossi92/Levtac Citadel. There is also the Canuck Wrangler but they are pretty new and I haven't seen them on the secondary market yet. You may be able to find a Henry used for around $1200.

Prices on lever guns have gone stupid, I blame Yellowstone and Hollywood
A gun show I find is the worst place to buy a lever gun, every one that I have seen has been way overpriced but you might get lucky if you go early and be at the right place at the right time

I just bought a Turkish made lever in .357 at P&D for $1050 after tax. New. Last one they had. Haven’t had time to take it to the range yet. Edit.. Yellowstone did for lever prices what band of brothers and the pacific did for Garand m1.
