Price of Sigs Increase

Not to hijack this thread... but I've been thinking about a 226 for my first handgun. If anyone knows, how would they say this stacks up to say the S&W M&P, either pro or the range kit? Looking at 9mm for the cheaper ammo.

They are both completely different feels. But they are both great. Either won't serve you wrong. If you have the cash, buy a 226 if not buy the M&P and get the 226 eventually down the road :)

Can you describe the different feels? Cash is a factor somewhat but not entirely. I have small hands and I'm drawn to the M&P because it comes with different sized back straps. I guess I should try going somewhere and trying them both, but in your experience is the 226 hand grip large?

You can get an E2 Grip and Short Trigger for the 226 but it will be extra cost.

It's not just Sigs, all firearms coming from the the USA will cost more in 2014 as our currency is in free fall & the US MSRP's will slightly go up by about 3% just like it does every year when the American economy is booming.

Buying now is a good move, the canadian dollar has nowere else to go than South, would not be surprised to see 15-20% increase due to the money devaluation, why chance it if it is on 2014 wishlist... JP.

Umm... Well let me try to explain. The P229 is really chubby so if you have stubby hands, I don't think that is the best choice. I personally think the Sig feels just right if you have larger hands... Like, the web of you hand fits really snug to the top of the frame for good control over it. But if your fingers are short, its a little difficult to reach the double action pull without moving your grip but if you don't care and shoot single action all day its okay. But its manageable. And I personally think it is better for ambidextrous use if you wanted to do that.

While the M&P feels good and gets the job done. Like you said, it has the adjustable back straps too. It just works for any size hand :)

When I have the two side-by-side, the feel of a metal trigger and frame just feels different. I like it a little better tbh. I think your best bet is going to a gun shop for yourself. Let me know if that makes sense if not, I will take a photo :)
