I went looking around on all the Section home pages and was only able to find results for 2 others
Saskatchewan $50
Quebec $60
Ontario is $60 now, $70 next year.
I'm curious as to what the other provinces memberships are and what they get out of it, besides being able to shoot.
Black Badge fees wiould be interesting to compare aswell.
If IPSC Canada wants to increase its membership then maybe its time to look at ways of cutting the cost to get in. We can't do anything about the gear and ammo costs but lowering membership and black badge fees might be an option. Could having one IPSC Canada membership for eveyone save money compared to the shooters joining IPSC(insert home province here) then having a portion of that membership go to IPSC Canada?
 
I would love to shoot IPSC, but the cost and time for a Black badge course stop me!
IPSC's got to make it easier for new shooters to get involved! Or pistol sports in Canada will be no more.
 
What about about the none hardcore pistol shooters, that just want to shoot the odd club match for fun? They wont put in the time or the $$$.
We need those people on the range shooting to keep pistol sports alive!

+1.....it is not a free sport. Any sport costs some amount of time and money to participate. Even a runner buys many sneakers, shorts, hats, sunglasses, shirts, etc.......
$50 is what is costs currently in NB, + $50 for first year membership.
A regular sanctioned match is usually $15-$20. (targets, patches, props, score sheets, metal targets and repairs, etc)
YOur ammo costs you money as well. $50 is not what is holding you back...:bsFlag: Sorry, I have heard this from different people that had intentions to take the BB course.
 
You do not have to be a member of IPSC to shoot a club match for fun.

Mind you many (most) clubs in Ontario will require you to have a holster course.

At EESA you can come out to our IPSC practice sessions with no BB and try it out with no problem at all.

The 2 days that it takes to do the black badge is time well spent. Face it - we are participating in a sport where we are at times running with loaded guns. I don't want to be around anyone who has not received some type of training and been evaluated to confirm he can do this safely. Two days at black badge under the scrutiny of the instructor is a small price for us to pay for safety. Would you hunt with someone who did not at least have a hunter safety course under his belt?

And to re-interate 50.00 for BB is nothing compared to the cost of the gun, mags, holsters and ammo. Golf clubs and coutry club memberships are expensive to...

Are you saying that the total cost of a black Badge course in N.B is $100.00. ?
That includes your first years membership ?

IF that is true we have a Huge problem problem in Ontario,

Our cost is $160, that includes:

$50 for the Course fee
$50 Instructors fee, and
$60 for your first years membership.

Training new shooters is not where we should be scrimping...
 
Each Individual Black Badge Instructor in Alberta is allowed to set his own course fee amount. He is responsible for collecting an IPSC Alberta membership, $60. Each student gets his first match free, $30, so that he may qualify for his BB. Course fees vary between $200 and $300, I think.

Juniors (under 18) get their Black Badge for free, Membership for free and pay half price for a match.

All sections have to submit $30 a year to IPSC Canada for each member. IPSC Canada submits a portion of this to IPSC world.
 
Cheap Alternative

If costs are an issue, check out the thread on "Action .22" out of the BC Lower Mainland. Most have a Ruger 10/22, a banana mag and a cheap brick of .22LR. That's it! I can see it expanding to .22 action pistol shooting in the future...away from the expensive gear, expensive ammo and sometimes snooty attitudes of those in the "formal" shooting disciplines.

Manitoba BB is $125, includes first years membership. Membership renewals are $70, matches just went up to $25 last year I think.
