Hi Folks,

I've come across a Remmy 700 in .243 which appears closest to the current BDL model, however there is no removalbe magazine from what I can see, just a solid walnut stock. it has a relativly low serial (i'll have to double check), and includes an old, but amazingly clear weaver optic. Does anyone know where I can find info or pricing about the older 700 models?

I did some digging through remington's site and it seems the BDL is the closest version, but it still doesn't seem quite right. I would also appreciate it if anyone could give me an idea of the going price for these in .243? Every reference I've found seems to be 308 or bigger...

Sounds like an ADL to me too. Discontinued in 2004. The SPS replaced it in the 2005 model year.
Condition is everything. MilArm is listing a used .243 ADL, in VG-EXC, at $585. No mention of a scope. They want $589 and up for a new SPS. The used price seems decidedly steep.

Some BDL's did not have the detachable magazines. The ones that did, or do,
usually have the "DM" designation for, you guessed it "Detachable Magazine".
One thing to watch for in the varmint calibers, ie: the 22-250, .243 etc. is a
worn out bore. This can happen relatively quickly (as little as 1500 rounds) when
the really high velocity cartridges are used, in the 4000+/- fps range and the
.243 is capable of this. There are a lot of other variables that come into play,
of course, but it is something you should be on the look out for. As for price:
If I'm selling it $10,000, if I'm buying $10.;)
Good Luck.
