498 seires serial nnumber, made in 1895, cal.44, 24" barrel supposadly in excellent shape, made in 1895.
My brother has seen it and says it's good rifle, but i'm waiting on pics.
Anybody got an idea of approximate values?
I'm guessing between 9 and $1,400, but I am no Winchester guru and I don't have a pic to look at!

I have a newly acquired third model 1873...44 WCF an octagonal barrel manufactured in 1888 which has not been altered. All parts there and original condition but no finish left and the barrel is pitted. A Winchester man told me that it was worth $1,000.00 in todays market. Not my thing so it will go.....just to give you an idea. Dave

Condition is everything; could be anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand depending on condition and whether the finish is original.

1873

I sold a 73 this year. Finish was original on wood and metal. Wood was very good. Metal 70 percent original blue. Bore was pitted and had the remains of rust marks in it. Sold it for $1100. Had the bore been as good as the outside of the gun it would have been $2500.00. Condition is everything!
Carry on!

No pics yet , guys!:(
I am very familiar with the "condition is everything" caveat, of course, but was wanting to get a ballpark of what some had gone for, which I got.
thanks , guys, and as soon as I get some pics, i'll post 'em!:)
