the issue is overall inflation and a low Canadian dollar ($0.79) not just isolated to firearms.
Try and buy food, gas, skis, golf clubs or a car. or god forbid, try and buy a house!!
We are going to see 80's style inflation. this is nothing new, its just something we haven't seen in a while.
Buy what you can now because nothing will be cheaper in a year. Oh and don't owe money on a variable interest rate. They will hold that back as long as they can, but rates are going up.

On a year-over-year basis, Albertans paid 4.0% more in September 2021 for the goods and services that comprise the Consumer Price Index (CPI) than in the same month a year ago, while the national average CPI was up 4.4%.
In Alberta, nearly all commodity categories increased, with Energy (+21.8%) and Transportation (+10.7%) increasing the most.

If you don't have a BUNCH of ammo , and reloading components put away , you haven't been paying attention for several years now.
It's not too late to start , but procrastinating further would be grounds for an incompetence hearing , possibly leading to a padded room , and a whole team of specialists observing you. LOL

100% agree. I got into Firearms Just before Sandy Hook happened. After going through the shortages I faced trying to find ammo and price gouging I was determined to never let that happen again. Knowing that another event was likely I, (like most of us on here... hopefully) have been squirreling away as many rounds as I could afford monthly since 2013.
That being said one can never have enough ammo... Good luck to all who are just getting into the sport.

It's crazy, I had a few projects on the books for over-the-winter including putting together a stumpy .308 bolt gun as a "truck gun" and a hybrid target/long range hunting rifle in .300 Win Mag, as well as a couple reloading projects. I just don't think it'll be reasonable to do anything once the new pricing is in effect, it's almost like a panic buy to make sure I have at least some of the build pieces and loading components hoarded away to kick some things off.
With the price of gas, produce, and meats climbing it'll be a rough year for many. The supply chain is screwed, housing market is screwed, inflation is screwed, but hey, my investments are growing so that means at least the rich are getting richer.
So no surprises here, and I 100% back our vendors who need to do what they need to do in order to continue to put food on their tables.

What powder is at $75/lb? Im still paying low $40's locally.
Our commentary aside, thanks for the transparency. While we are certainly expectant, it's nice to hear from the community.

The barter system and folks helping one another out - buying from local farmers - going out once a week for groceries - make and bring own coffee to work (no more drive through coffee/bagel/donut) I often look at the WTB ads and if I have the item on hand - I just ship it out to them
It it very interesting listening to everyone's response to the current situation. Heck I've only been licensed since 2019 and feel like i got in somewhat early relatively speaking. Hats off to those who have been squirreling away ammo for a long time.

It depends if your thinking factory farming where tones of land is used to grow feed for the animals, harvesting and transporting the feed to the factory yes it is the worst pollutant however, if the animal grazes and eats grass, bugs and whatever is in the fields and their #2 fertalizes the land and so fourth then it isn't as bad.
