Prices in the olden days...

At one time I ordered a 100 round or Kynoch 8mm Lebel, flat nosed, for $5.00 from California to Vancouver, shipping I think was included, 1960s.

I had a M1916/27 Mannlicher Berther carbine at that time..

One pound of IMR3031 7.98
A case of Imperial long rifle, 500 10 bucks at Army and Navy
My first new winchester model 490 22 was $83.00
Gas in 1974 approx 48 cents a gallon depending where you were
1977 GMC half ton truck. $6500 tax in
Could go to a show c/w with popcorn & a pop for 50 cents
Guns hung on the wall of the house. We had no key to lock our house. Never a problem.

Takes me back to my much younger days, hanging out at the Fraser Arms in south Vancouver, filling our table with 25 cent glasses of draft beer at last call while dodging the bar fights. But then again, youth is wasted on the young...

I remember the 25 cent draft beer Happy hour was 5 foe buck.

Fraser Arms, that brings me back, not as far as your story but spent many an early evening after work there, and in my early 20's the Wild Coyote underneath the Arthur Laing. Dollar shots of Baja Rosa and Wild Turkey on Tuesday nights... technicoloured puke never seemed so good.

Gas was 39.9 and a buddy that had $5 meant we could cruise all night.

I remember when I was buying European, brass cased, boxer primed, non-corrosive 7.62x51 in packages of 20 for $7....that was 2003.....

Hell, I remember 10 years ago buying boxes of 3030 for $13. Its doubled in price in the last decade. Scary

The most absurd price increase to me is 303 Brit. Most is $35/box, while some places you'd be hard pressed to find it for $40.

Min. wage $1.65. 24 of beer 5 bucks, and 50 cents for a pack of smokes. Pop 10 cents in , 12 cents out, chocolate bars and chips were 10 cents. Loaf of bread 20 cents or 5 for a dollar on sale. Life was good!
