Hi everyone.

I Purchased a primary Arms slx 3-18 scope recently and it showed up about a week ago. I have been having a look through it before mounting it on my rifle and I can't seem to get the scope to focus beyond a couple hundred yards on any magnification beyond about 13x. And in order to focus at any great distance say beyond 1000 yards I can't focus beyond say 9 power. I feel like my parallax setting doesn't travel far enough to clear the picture. I think that the parallax is out of adjustment.

I find it hard to believe that a scope with a reticle designed for shooting beyond 500 yards wouldn't focus beyond a couple hundred. Perhaps it really just isn't a good scope. I do feel that the amount of positive reviews out there couldn't possibly be made by someone looking through the same scope as mine.

I am wondering if anyone else has this scope. Do you have the same issue and is this what I should expect? or does my scope in fact have issues?

If anyone wouldn't mind giving me some feedback with your experience so I can figure out whether It is what it is or if I should look at sending it back.

I reached out to Primary Arms and it seems as though if I feel the scope isn't right I have to return it to the dealer that I purchased it from and they will send to PA for inspection. It seems to me that I will eventually pay to ship the scope 3 times and wait an undertimined amount of time before I can use a brand new scope. This doesn't really inspire confidence in purchasing any more of their scopes.

Upon further inspection I also notice that I can only see the 900 yard marker on the reticle at full 18 power. If I want to see the full reticle with the 1000 yard subtension I can only go to 16x. Is this normal for this scope or a sign that something isn't quite right?

I’ll let you know how I make out with my 3-18 SLx 308 hud. Just put it on a new rifle and will be heading to the range this week.
I haven’t noticed any issues with mine. As far as the reticle, that is normal for a ffp scope. If you dial the elevation it doesn’t matter and can use the full 18x depending on mirage. You can turn down the power to 16x if you want to hold but you need to collect data on your rifle and round. There is also a parallax adjustment on the left side and ocular adjustment to focus the scope better

Thank you for your response and I look forward to seeing what you learn from looking through yours.

To be clear.

I am aware of all of the available adjustments in trying to focus the scope. I am wondering if they regularly have the same limitations or if mine is defective.

With regards to the reticle I wouldn't be holding 1000 yards and would dial most if not all of it cartridge and scope travel dependent. I'm more trying to troubleshoot whether my scope has a misaligned lens.

With my other ffp scopes the full reticle is usable at max magnification.

I'm dragging my feet on initiating a return if in fact all of the scopes are like this. I don't want to send more good money after bad.
