Ok...I've searched back 15 pages, an haven't come across this question...So I'll ask it.
What is the responsible/safe(read`` GREEN") way to dispose of spent primers?
I have been reloading for many years an have a coffee can full of `em. And now want to get rid of them..but, want to do it right. Just what is in them anyway?(I mean the spent ones.)

they are made of brass are they not? so put them in with your split, busted, no longer reloadable rifle brass and cash them in at your local scrap metal dealer. $1.40/lb is better then in the trash, get the kids involved they can pick up the 22's at the range it all adds up

I was going to suggest you use it as shot in the some 12ga and shoot against a steel plate, but it may be dangerous, so i won't suggest it:p

If you say GREEN, then what if you send it as a donation to S. Dion and tell him to sell it and use the cash for his enviro mental campaign:cool:

Almost all fired primers contain Lead Styphnate residue. Re-using them as bag stuffings or paperweights or whatever is not a great idea. The safest thing to do with them is to chuck them in the garbage.

i just sold my scrap metal and i had 14 lbs of spent primers in a container and i got 1.50 a lb for the metal. recycle your metals, better for the world your pocket book.

I agree with sawdust and MG34.
Mine go to a scrap metal dealer where I get paid to recycle them. They are brass, same as empty cartridge cases.
To feel extra good about it, you could even donate the proceeds to an anti-lieberal, pro-gun cause!

spent primers

Mine go in with all the unloadable range brass along with the 22lr cases. You would be amazed how fast that can add up to a ####eload of brass. Currently at $1.50 a pound they are NOT going in the garbage.
