I have a slew Federal GM210 primers and will be loading RL7 for the .358. Has anyone any firsthand experience as to wether they will be suitable?
Thanks.
joe
Can't speak to that Fed primer, but I use the same combo with CCI 250 Mag primers and get very consistent ignition/burn... 0.5" three shot grouos at 200 yards with a 20" barrelled Ruger M77... from a .358 Win that is as good as it gets.
That match primer will work just fine, but if it was me I would put the expensive primers aside for an application that needs them and use a cheaper primer.
Any primer will ignite RL7 in the 358, but unless you are loading light bullets, I would switch to a slower powder, like 4895, RL15, Varget or BLC2. That would get you 150 fps more velocity.
When I was reloading the 358 Winchester I found that H4895 worked great and Std. primers was all that was needed.
RL7 is on the fast side in my view.
748 worked for me to but not as good as H4895.
