I was firing Remington 9 mm UMC today in a Revolver and a Semi-Automatic.

An Alfa Proj. and a Glock 17 Gen 4 respectively.

The impact on the primers was very noticeably different.

The Glock impacts were normal looking, nothing remarkable.

The Revolver impacts were much deeper, not punching through, and no bulging out back, but very much a deeper impact.

The Primers were, apart from the depth of the impact mark, flat : so no over pressure from the cartridge as far as I can tell.

Any ideas ?

A hammer hits way harder than a striker. Primer strikes from Revolvers are almost always deeper than striker fired pistols and most hammer fired pistols.

Strange, I get different results comparing my Alfa proj 9mm and glock 19. I have had a couple light strikes with the alfa that needed to be hit again. Never a problem with the glock

This observation needs to be looked at in relation to the firing pin protrusion on both guns. As long as this is within spec there is no concern, and there will be variation in products from min to max. If t is truly concerning it could be adjusted.

No light strikes on either one, no miss-fires.

It had been a while since I had taken either gun out to the range, and perhaps I have been paying more attention to the spent cartridges since I started re-loading.
