Primer pockets!

I've been reloading for about a year now, and I am very pleased with my progress...thanks to GunNutz!!
I have been using the Lee primer pocket cleaning tool, and it does a fair job, but I was wondering if there are other ways of really cleaning the pockets? I know there are other tools from diferent makers, but does anyone know of other "Home-made" ways of cleaning out the crap, and making for a nice neat fit of new primer?

Primer pocket

I would go with a primer pocket uniformer, comes from sinclair, it will ream the pocket to a standard depth, and cleans all the junk out, the chuck on my cordless drill.

I recently tried one of Hornady's primer pocket cleaners and was very impressed - way faster that LEE or RCBS variant and it looked like it would last forever.

I use the sinclair primer pocket uniformer chucked to my drill press. When you get a rythm giong you can do 500 in less than an hour.

the Sinclair has four cuters

and a flat base as a depth gauge

never seen the hornady so nothinh to say about that

the Lee is ok I use it too but the sinclair is a much better unit IMHO

Primer Pocket Cleaners

.... With "Military" brass, you may find it necessary to "swage" the primer pocket. I'm using a pair of RCBS primer pocket cleaners, when one gets a bit dirty, I just switch. It is possible to make your own cleaner using an old screw driver, although the metal is not as hard/durable as the factory ones. If I were to do it over, I'd probably opt for a primer pocket cleaner that was powered by something stronger than my finger tips and something that was faster too ! ...... The "Sinclair" version, which I had never seen before, looks like the best option with the four cutters and depth controlled by the design ! ..... David K.

The Sinclair can actually cut/remove brass instead of just grinding at a carbon deposit with burred steel. It will not cut any deeper than it is designed to. Fits nicely into a cordless drill chuck as well.

Why is a Carbide saw blade more money that a high speed steel one?

The Sinclair is tungsten carbide while the Lee and Hornady are steel.

I found cleaning primer pockets a waste of time. If it aint gonna get me any points, why bother. The rifle shoots 1/2 MOA or better, I doubt cleaning primer pockets will make it a 1/4 MOA rifle.
Then again, I am anal enough to weigh and batch brass into 1gr. lots. I use Lapua brass so most of the case prep BS is already done.
Now if I was shooting BR is might be a different story.
