I bought some large rifle primers for my upcoming .257 Roberts AI build and ended up getting Magnum primers (Winchester). Can I still use them? Does it really matter?

You can use them, not totally necessary , some loads may ask for them depending on the powder(ball powders).

No harm will be done. They aren't manufactured specifically for "magnum loads" , just large powder loads and some powders will take advantage of the "hotter" burn of these primers.

A store sold me Large Rifle Magum Winchesters one time when I asked for Regular. I didn't notice till I got home. I just use them until I run out for all my loads in large primer rifle cases. Then I'll go back to regular Win. They'll work fine.

You should back the loads off some if they do not specify magnum primers. Have a look at the table near the end of the article at the link below. They tested some Federal regular primers (210 and 210Match) as well as the 215 magnum primers. The magnums produced about 40 fps more velocity and 3,000 psi more pressure.
