Kind of curious as how to choose a primer.Question being a buddy has a 1000 real old CCI 200 large rifle primers could these be used for a 22-250?
Also as I am on and my first time I have another one for you experienced shooters.I have been trying to seat 40 grain V max bullets close to the lands on his ruger number one bull barrel and cant come close without seating the bullet way out of the .224 recommended minimum case seating. All help will be appreciated .
Third where is the spell check on this forum?

CCI200's will work just fine. Stick to the COAL max and go from there - getting closer to the lands isn't always a guarantee of better accuracy and for hunting ammo you should have at least 2/3 of the bullet diameter gripping the neck - the boat-tail doesn't count, remember - unless you're BR competition shooting. A bull barreled #1 I'm thinking won't need much messing with to be plenty accurate.

A 40 grain bullet is a short bullet compared to a 55 grain bullet. It won't give you the same OAL as a heavier bullet.
"...real old..." How they've been stored is more important than their age. Any large rifle primer will do nicely.
"...where is the spell check on this forum?..." There isn't one. You seem to be able to spell just fine, even if your space bar doesn't seem to be working. Spell checkers don't fix words that are spelt correctly, but used incorrectly. To, too, two and, far more often, there, their and they're, for example.

thanks

I guess checking and re -checking in the reloading forum should be the minimum noticing my mistakes and checking my space bar as though it was a powder scale things to think about in the importence should not be neglected.

It really kind of makes me sick looking at the TC in all the pieces.Knowing the end result could have been fatal to all around.
